Many are the plans in a person's heart,
but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.

Argh! What Happened to November!?!

November always seems to pass too quick for me...5 birthdays this month between my siblings and parents--geez! It has been a great month!
On the home front Jazz has taken on yet another school project; manager of the freshmen basketball team with another one of her friends. Sooo that means Mama has more running to do, however, one of our neighbors son is on the JV team so we take turns every week picking them up. Not to mention in the last 2 weeks her braces have needed repair twice!
Joce is still a busy bee with NJHS and Student Council...she's had candy grams, school carnival, new student tours, and a neon themed dance-WHEW!
Gideon has had quite the month. He will try to mimic words we say if we ask him..."Gideon" is "yee-on". "Milk" is "mill". "One, two, three"-"un, un, UN"...this one is funny because he does it on his own when play running, jumping or rolling. He has also started playing more imaginative. He has a Little People Drummer Boy set with animals and during the day I will find him moving the animals and talking in his own way. And he is almost potty trained...I say almost because he can't say he needs to go...we just remind him and watch for the poop signs. He runs to sit on his potty and gets up clapping when done. An accident here and there over the course of each week but that's bound to occur and it has been less frequent in the past 2 weeks. He wears a diaper at night but dry as a bone in the morning...we'll keep that for now. We started with diapers and having him go throughout the day and that felt like forever...that was at 16 months. Around 17 months we still kept the diaper up but started getting him used to undies with a little folded cloth diaper in the front--just in case--which was good. If he had an accident he would realize he was wet and I'd rinse/throw it in my diaper bucket (water and clorox) until I washed. And all of a sudden it just clicked at the end of 17 months. In the last week we've ventured without the diaper and he goes while out:) At the zoo he wore a diaper but went in the bathroom there. :) It is a lot of work in the sense of time but was well worth it for me; even if I'm the one whose "potty trained" to some. Thanks mama for reminding me he'd get it...I forgot with the girls being so long ago how to get it going and the time it takes. :)

In other news, we celebrated a birthday at our house since Papa Tom lives down here.

And as I mentioned we ventured out to the zoo with Grandma Debbie who came to visit for Thanksgiving.

Haha...no that puddle isn't from Gideon. :)

And Thanksgiving was wonderful...I cannot believe I didn't snap more than one photo...Gideon helping with the stuffing for the bird at 5:00 am!!! That boy is an early riser on a daily basis. :)

Oh and finally, our garden!

Japanese Friendship Garden

On Friday, Veteran's Day, we decided to take a short trip to the Japanese Friendship Garden

We had a fantastic time and the weather was perfect! We fed the Koi on the bridge and on the edge of the pond...highly suggest buying the Dixie cup full of Koi food in the gift shop for 50 cents...these fish go cRaZy for it! Everyone enjoyed seeing these fish from itsy bitsy to almost 2 feet big.

We even met a pair of ducks, so friendly!

The garden was so beautiful!

Jazz was taking a shot of this bird and he turned and looked right at her. ;) And Papa Tom noticed this hawk on ledge of the building next to the garden on our way out...look how big he looks from far away...the next shot is as close as I could get. So cool!

We all had a fun, relaxing time! Gideon was exhausted!

A Little of Everything

Well October was a busy month...we ended with a fantastic time trick-or-treating! Joce invited a few friends along as they were all "sleep walkers" and I am sure you can guess Gideon's costume.

G

And although he already has some plump, kissable lips...he gets that from mommy...he thought these wax lips Grandma Debbie sent were cool!

Gideon's quite the reader...he is such a sweet boy; he doesn't even try to rip pages on paper books. :) He loves, loves, loves this Busy Town book!

Jazz finished off her 1st year of cross country...she didn't make it to state but we are proud of her...a freshmen on the varsity running team...she's a keeper! She's second from left.

And here are the girls doing their little warm up dance right before the start...it's funny because they start it right as their about to start so it throws off the other girls a bit. ;)

And finally the latest craze at our home...chips and salsa! Gideon LOVES tomatoes or anything with tomatoes so it wasn't a big surprise he liked salsa but liking medium hot salsa--WOW-his 1/4 Spanish side is coming out! :)
